Addressing the Issues
Addressing the Issues

You and other intern teachers meet with Ms. Digital to discuss the situation and how you may address it through literacy practices in her English classroom. After reading students' papers, you realize that a many students wrote about being able to communicate at times of crisis. Many were thankful for their phones today. You and Ms. In-Network see this as a perfect opportunity to tackle the issues that came up today from a digital/media literacy framework.

1. Decide on the issue(s) you will address in response to this tragic happening in the district.

2. Brainstorm ideas for how to help student address this issue(s) using media and digital tools? (Consider internet-based tools such as gaming, social networking, and researching. Also consider such digital tools as phones, cameras, computers, and videos).

3. What are the learning outcomes you hope to achieve through this unit? How might students display their learning using digital and media literacy?

4. Brainstorm specific activities that will engage students in digital and media literacy as they explore and learn about this issue(s), as well as other issues in their lives.

4. How might you assess these expected learning outcomes with digital tools?
