Madame Eglantyne is a rather stout, pale woman in her late 30s wearing a nun's habit. You notice that her cloak hangs about her with the heavy folds of expensive wool and that a beautiful red coral and green glass rosary bearing a flashing golden medalion is suspended from her belt. Her grey eyes, high forehead, aristocratic nose, and small, well-formed mouth attest to her noble birth.

As second-in-command of a convent, the Prioress is a woman of authority; however, she is away from her professional responsibilities here and seems quite happy to be so.

She occasionally plays with and talks to two little dogs that gambol about her feet and greedily snap up the tidbits she drops to them from her plate.
