Myrtle is the woman with whom Tom has an affair. She is married to the owner of Wilson's Garage in the valley of ashes. Tom attempts to justify the affair by saying that it's "good for her" to escape her dreary environment. Myrtle desires to be a member of the social elite, but unfortunately, Tom treats her more as an object than anything.
