The Stout Family has lived in this cottage for five generations. The oldest son inherits the property, and the other sons join the clergy or become soldiers. The daughters marry, and generally live in the area.

Beatrice Stout, married to Jonathan Stout
Beatrice and Jonathan have six children:
Abigail, age 13
Hector, age 10
Adam, age 8
Mary and Emily, age 6
Samuel, age 5
Theodore, age 3

Also living with the Stout family is Grandpa Stout. The Aunts, who live in the neighboring cottages, are always dropping in to visit. They have all had children, but none have survived at this point. Therefore, the Aunts crave the laughter of children and come by almost every day.

The Stouts also have two dogs, Ribcage and Nutkin.
