Religion

The Roman Catholic faith is the predominant religion practiced by most Puerto Ricans and has been since the sixteenth century. In 1898, the United States invaded Puerto Rico and gained political control of the island allowing a great deal of Protestant influence to come in. There are also Methodists, Jewish, Islam, Presbyterians, and many other faiths present on the island.
