Naomi

Character Description

Naomi and her parents are Dominican and own Ramirez Funeral Home, the same funeral home that was used for the funeral of Luiss mother. Naomi drives an old VW Bug and comes to Jorge Cintron's salvage yard in search of a hubcap.

"Luis watched as the most beautiful girl he had ever seen climbed out of a vintage white Volkswagen Bug. She stood in the sunlight in her white sundress waiting for his father, while Luis stared. She was like a smooth wood carving. Her skin was mahogany, almost black, and her arms and legs were long and thin, but curved in places so that she did not look bony and hard---more like a ballerina. And her ebony hair was braided close to her head. Luis let his breath out, feeling a little dizzy. He had forgotten to breathe."
