Dean's Yard
Although Woolf never identifies the exact location of the Dalloway home, a few critics have suggested it is in Dean's Yard. The yard is “A quiet square with the character of a genteel village green, despite its proximity to Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament.” In addition to Westminster Abbey (peeking over the buildings in the photo above), Dean's Yard is surrounded by the Church of England headquarters and the prestigious Westminster School, founded around 1340 (Glinert 236).
